What’s News on 15 July 2019 – HKDRC 40th Green Half Marathon - Never Give Up
HKDRC 40th Green Half Marathon 2019 – The Organizing Work is in good progress
In 2017 & 2018, although we completed the organizing work up to 100%, however we failed to obtain event permits and approval of temporary road closure from Police NTN, STKRC, DON and TD due to reasons. We have no choice to cancel the event and we suffered from financial loss over $120,000.
For this year 2019, we are not giving up but continue organizing this event. We have already received Agricultural Fisheries and Country Park Office ( AFCD ) permit granting approval for us to hold the event on 3 November 2019. In the meantime, we submitted applications for event permits and proposal for temporary road closure to all approval parties include Police NTN, TPDO, DON ( HAD ), TD, STKRC and Villager Leaders of Wu Kau Tang and Luk Keng for approval.
At present, our organizing work of the event is in good progress, several sponsors confirmed support, Club members offered donations and helpers’ enthusiastic work. We are inspired by their support and we will do our best for the event.
The draft design of event poster has been completed. We are working on the entry form. Hopefully, it will be completed before August. To enhance the popularity of the event, several prize items will be changed :-
- Increase number of winners in each individual division from previous 1-5 to 1-8
- Change the team competition from registration 4 runners to 3 for each team
- Due to low participation rate on Men Junior division, this division cancelled
- Free certificates ( individual & team ) available and can be download from www.hkdrc.org
- Add special cash prize ( $300 ) for any male and female runners who finished the run within 73mins and 78mins
The Green Half Marathon 2019 is an important annual event to running athletes in Hong Kong. The Green Half Marathon stands for its history ( 1977 – 2016 ). Its owns a unique course “ zero emission course “ having scenic views all along the course. The Green Half Marathon provides 40% up and down road course distance and it is Your Challenge.
Green Work for Green Race – We are moving forward to support waste reduction and recycling at the community level. We will coordinate helpers to collect back the plastic water bottles from runners at the race venue. The collected water bottles will be delivered to the Community Green Station ( CGS ) 綠在東區 at No. 30, Oi Shun Road, Shau Kei Wan, Hong Kong for recycle.
Green Work for Green Race – We support the Government project on development of hiking and have done up to 60nos HKDRC’s Green Running and Hiking Routes ( total distance 1000km ) covering all urban areas of Hong Kong and Macau.
